| Dragica Martinis (January 19, 1922 - October 8, 2010), better kown as Carla Martinis, was born in Croatia in a small village of Dan.ulovi.i in the region of .umberak west of Zagreb, near the town of So.ice. An Austrian newpapers proclaimed her to be an "acoustic miracle". Herbert von Karajan chose her to have the role of Aida in 1951 for the solemn concert organized on the occasion of 50 years since the death of Giuseppe Verdi.

| The first international recognition of Croatia came on May 21, 879 from Pope John VIII, that is, 1131 years ago. During the solemn divine service in St. Peter's church in Rome in 879, Pope John VIII gave his blessing to Croatian prince Branimir and the whole Croatian people, about which he informed the prince in his letters.
